AltGenie — Privacy Policy

What data we access

AltGenie accesses your store's product data only: product titles, product images, and image alt text, via the Shopify Admin API (read_products / write_products scopes). We do not access customers, orders, or any personal data of your buyers.

What data we store

• Your shop domain and Shopify session token (required to operate the app)
• Your app settings (language preference, auto mode on/off)
• Job statistics (counts of images processed — no image content)

We do not store your product images or generated alt texts on our servers. Alt texts are written directly back to your Shopify store.

Third-party processing

To generate alt text, product image URLs and product titles are sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI vision analysis. Anthropic does not train models on this API data. No customer personal data is ever sent.

Data deletion

When you uninstall AltGenie, all stored data for your shop (session, settings, job history) is deleted automatically. We also honor Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact).
